Mini Pancake Sliders

Looking for a creative breakfast idea?  Try making "mini" sized pancakes to create a new, chic breakfast for kids and adults alike.  It's a proven fact that anything made "mini-sized" is twice as appetizing on the sheer "cuteness" factor alone!!!   I like to make these when I have leftover pancake batter in the bottles.  I will pop them in a ziplock bag and freeze them until ready for use. Plus, you can play around with different flavor combinations.  Here are a few of our faves.......

Chocolate Covered Strawberry

-Nutella

-Sliced Strawberries

 The "Elvis"

-Nutella

-Sliced banana

-Peanut Butter

 Strawberry Shortcake

And don't forget the side of lite syrup for dipping!!!!  What's your favorite combination?

Game Day Pancakes

A great way to "Kick Off" your game day traditions!

All pancakes are drawn onto a med-low heat pan using a regular squirt bottle.  Use your teams colors and finish with glitter gel icing for additional depth.

We may not have brought home a win (hard to do when you're up against "Johnny Football") but it was still a great day for the Dykes family!
 Wooooo pig!

Carnival Themed Pancakes

"Come one, come all and step right up!.......to the Greatest Breakfast on Earth!!!!

I "Mustache" You if you like Pancakes?
I don't even know  how this "Mustache" craze got started...all I know is my 7 year old is obsessed with the fad!  So, of course, I just had to make these quirky, yet cute creations.

 "Mustache" and "Hot Lips" Pancakes

Step 1 : Make and dye your batter and place in separate squirt bottles

Step 2: Remove pan from heat source, draw outline of your mustache and lips

Fill in pancakes, place a lollipop stick in center of each pancake, return to burner to finish cooking.

Flip carefully!

 Serve!

Easter Egg Pancakes

Happy Easter, everyone!  He is risen!....and this fun, festive breakfast is a sure fire way to help your kids rise and shine too! Here we go!

Step 1- Mix your batter  using your favorite pancake mix. (I prefer Heart Smart Bisquick)

Step 2 - Separate batters into bowls and dye using food coloring of choice.

Step 3-  Pour batters into plastics squirt bottles

Step 4 - Remove skillet from heat source,  draw pancakes on skillet and return to heat source to finish cooking.

And now for the finished product......

Check out this face!!!!

Happy girl!

Sometimes I like to leave the pancakes somewhat unfinished so she can decorate them like a healthier sugar cookie!  She is using candy buttons, sprinkles and glitter gel icing.  He is risen, indeed!

Cute "Catepillar" Pancakes

Ever wonder what to do with your leftover pancake batter?  Don't waste it!!!!  After you make your next pancake creation, take the leftover batter and make little circles that you can freeze in a ziplock baggie and use later!  During Kennedy's testing week I used mine to make a "bookworm" or catepillar pancake!  She loved it and it helped get her energized, full and focused for the big test!  I used my black glitter gel icing to draw legs and feelers right on the plate!  So stinkin cute yet so stinkin EASY!

St. Patrick's Day Pancakes
with Pot of Gold
(you don't need the "Luck of the Irish" to make their
breakfast magically delicious!!!)

These pancakes are a perfect way to kick off St. Patrick's Day!  Not to mention, they're super easy and guaranteed to make any day a
 "Lucky" one!!!  Let's get started....
First, gather your materials.  You'll need:
-your favorite pancake batter (I prefer Heart Smart Bisquick)
-nonstick cooking spray
-squirt bottles (one for each color you wish to use)
Next, pour batter into separate bowls and dye with preferred food coloring
(I like to use paper bowls so there is less clean up!)
Carefully pour each batter into its own bottle.

Next, set burner/burners to med-low heat and spray pan with nonstick spray.

Now for the fun part!.....begin to draw your rainbow!
HELPFUL TIP- remove pan from burner while you draw to give yourself plenty of time; then, place pan back on burner after you have finished drawing your pancake.
When rainbow has fully cooked on one side, carefully flip!  Place on a separate plate to cool when done.

Next, draw your outline for the shamrock.
and then just fill it in!
I made one more to balance it out.
Assemble your plate as you see fit!  You can use whipped cream or icing for the clouds and for the "gold" in the leprechaun's pot.  And don't forget the Pot of Gold (vanilla yogurt dyed with food coloring and dusted with gold sprinkles!)  So, the only question left is...will it win over my little strawberry blonde lassie?.........
Oh yeah,...I think she likes them!!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Everyone!!!!!

"Cheeseburger in Paradise"
Pancakes
(seriously......these are entirely made of pancakes)!!!

OMGoodness!!!  Your kids are gonna flip over these!!!

So, you want an easy way to win "Mom of the Year"?....well here it is!  The breakfast they'll talk about for weeks!  Can you imagine their little faces when they see these one Saturday morning?....well, let me tell ya, it's PRICELESS!  And the best part is it is absolutely do-able!  In this tutorial I will walk you thru it step by step.  So, are you ready to become a "Rockstar" in your very own house?  Well here we go!...

Step 1 - Make batter

Whip up a batch of  your favorite pancake batter.
(I use Heart Healthy Bisquick but any mix will do)

Step 2 - Make hamburger buns

Spray two ramekins with nonstick spray and fill with pancake batter 1/4 to 1/3 of the way full.  Bake in your oven at  ?degrees for ? minutes.

Step 3 - Dye batter

Pour remaining batter into four separate bowls.  (I like to use paper so I can just toss them when I'm done).  Dye three bowl with food coloring.

Bowl  #1 - RED (for tomatoes)
Bowl #2 - GREEN (for lettuce)
Bowl # 3 - Yellow (for cheese)

To Bowl # 4- add enough cocoa powder to make it the color
of a brown burger patty.

Bowl # 4 - BROWN (burger)

Step # 4 - Pour each batch of batter (excluding brown burger patty batter) into separate squirt bottles. Helpful tip-I keep my bottles in a bowl upside down so the batter is kept at the tip of the squirt bottle and ready for use.

Optional-I used a fourth squirt bottle of plain white batter to add depth to my veggies as seen in the folowing tutorial pics.

Step 5 - Prepare pan

Spray your nonstick skillet with cooking spray and set stove top to med-low heat.

Step 6 - Make Pancakes

Temporarily remove pan from heat and begin to draw your pancakes (in  any order) on the skillet.  Start with the outline....

then fill in the rest and place your pan back on the burner to finish cooking over med-low heat.  Flip when ready.

Step 7 - Make burger patties

Pour brown batter onto pan just like making "plain-old pancakes" and flip when ready.  (So easy I didn't think it needed a picture)!

And Finally...

Step 8 - Build your burgers!!!!

I like to bring my kiddo in on this part!  As we all know, kids LOVE to do things for themselves!!!

Oh yeah....I think she likes them!

This is how WE build a burger!
First top the burger with cheese...
 don't forget the veggies!!!

For a bonus, I whipped up some icing and dyed it red for ketchup, yellow for mustard and left one white for mayonaise for her to garnish it like a real burger!!!

It looked so real she had to taste test it to make sure it wasn't REALLY ketchup, mayo and mustard ; )
looks like it passed the test!!
She's having a BLAST with this one!!!

 almost done!....

there!!!

and now.....IT'S BURGER TIME!!!!!

Build-your-own-Snowman
Pancakes
Perfect kids Breakfast for the Holidays!!!

I'm a pretty hands-on type of mom...(you've probably figured that out already).  But,  I've learned that not only is it best for my kid... its also my job as a parent to be training her for eventual independence.  So I try to incorporate that concept whenever I can....hence the introduction of a build-your-own pancake day.  I'm sure when Solomon wrote the proverb "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6).....he probably wasn't talking about pancakes.  But, as a parent EVERYTHING we do is in hopes that these tiny, little and sometimes helpless beings living with us will one day grow to be a successful, independent, highly-functioning member of society as well as God's Kingdom.  So it really doesn't matter how big or small the task is, the more we can teach our kids to do for themselves the more productive and confident they will be!

Virtually every Saturday morning I lovingly make and methodically decorate a themed pancake breakfast for my daughter.  But this morning, I let her in on the fun!  And the result.......a fun and delicious breakfast for all!!!  So don't hog all the pancake making fun!!!  Get the kids involved; they'll LOVE IT!!!
BTW, this would be a perfect activity breakfast for winter sleepovers or holiday mornings when entertaining a houseful of cousins!!  Its SUPER easy and FOOL-PROOF!

First, dye half your pancake batter green and leave the rest plain.  Next, fill two squirt bottles with your batter (one plain and one green).  Finally, draw your Christmas trees and snowmen.  (Tree trunks can be attached or unattached to the trees but the snowman hats need to be drawn separately and placed on heads in the building period).
Now for the fun part....THE DECORATING!!!
We used glitter gel icing and mini m&m's.
It takes serious concentration...
And LOTS of icing and candy!!!!
And voila......Build-your-own Snowman Pancakes!!!

  1. In your article, you included some incredibly lovely, tasty, and colorful pictures of pancakes. Everyone enjoys eating sweet pancakes, but children especially do. Everything about pancakes is delicious. First, you can prepare them with whole grains, such as whole-wheat flour, to provide the fiber that is good for your heart. Singaporeans refer to pancakes as martabk and these is the greatest Indonesian street food in Singapore.
